The greatest gift I received from martial arts is the connection of mind, and soul. Martial arts helps me be a better person, and jiu-jitsu in particular helps keep me grounded. Throughout the years, no matter what's been troubling me, Martial arts has always been one of my cornerstones to a happy life.
I started my journey in the martial arts when I was about fourteen years old.  My parents had taken my sister and myself to a family friend who taught a hybrid karate system consisting of Goju Ryu, and Taekwondo to help with my sister's self confidence. Although my sister never joined, I was hooked. This was my first taste  of BJJ from John sensi who was a very good wrestler. This was the time of martial arts movies craze and the UFC had just started with Royce Gracie beating all the traditional martial artists. Life hase a way of getting in the way and my training took a back seat.  Fast forward to my late twenties and I caught the MMA bug and needed to ground myself again. I decided to start training in Karate, Muay Thai and Jiu-jitsu again. Ended up fighting and winning one match. Then life threw another curveball my way again and I took another leave and pursued a bodybuilding/powerlifting goal.
Roughly 3 years ago I started consistently going back into martial arts and started training in Jiu-jitsu again.  I am happy to be part of the Gracie Family.
